Inkscape Caricature of my dad

I just made an Inkscape of a caricature that I drew of my dad. It looks okay, could have worked on it some more but I was just trying to whip something out real quick. It doesn't look very much like a caricature more realistic I'll have to work on that. Below is a the actual hand drawing that I made earlier today.

Caricatures

At a festival I was at yesterday I observed how much business this one tent got. That tent was a caricature and face-painting booth. Later on once I got home I made a list of things  that sell easy:
  • Caricatures
  • face-painting
  • Manga
  • chibi
  • and origami mats
And so today I made some practice caricatures of my dad they were pretty good. There was a booth there that had children's art in it for sale and all the money is going to cancer. I offered to draw caricatures in their booth to help raise money. So at the next festival I guess I'll be doing that.

Artist of the day

I should have an artist of the day... Yes that would be a good idea I believe. Okay artist of the day today is Katsushika Hokusai ( Heres a link to some of his paintings on google:
https://www.google.com/searchq=Katsushika+Hokusai&hl=en&safe=off&rlz=1C1CHFV_enUS395US407&prmd=imvnso&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=NHCIUIC8BoTe8wS_6IGoDg&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAQ&biw=819&bih=564
Some information about him is that he was a japanese artist who specialized in paintings and prints and was  alive October 31, 1760 through May 10, 1849. One of his most famous print series was Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji here is one shown called The Great Wave off Kanagawa
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thirtysix_Views_of_Mount_Fuji
I hope you enjoyed reading and that you learned something about this artist. Click on the links to learn even more about him. Make a suggestion in the comment section below with another artist that I can post about tomorrow!

Sister's Fanfiction

I told my older sister I would post her Fanfiction story on my blog so here's the link:
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8637015/1/How-a-crash-changed-everything
I hope you enjoy it because once I said I would post it here she kept on bugging me until I did. I think she is really proud of herself for writing it too. She uses some fantastic figurative language- no joke. I am definitely going to use some of that in my english class at school.

New Graphic coming up

I just got back from the gym. I had a good work out and am now sitting back and relaxing for a while. Also here's a direct link to my latest page: http://howtomakelogos.blogspot.com/p/blog-page_15.html

You can find my pages on the right side of your screen, they are kind of hard to see but they're there. So I'm going to work some more on my Inkscape of a goblin then start working on another graphic. This next one will be the one I was working on for the tutorial.

New Page

I made a new page on copying a picture in Inkscape. It has screen caps to help visual people and to help you better understand what I'm trying to say. Leave your comments or suggestions. Thanks! As usual you can find the page on the side bar.

Logo candle

So today I am going to be able to make some candles I think. If they succeed I'm going to take  a picture of them and then post them on my blog, It would make an awesome logo if you owned a candle shop.

Videos soon to come!

I was just watching a video on how to marble your nails on YouTube. This is a good example of a logo I could make about nails or spas, that would be cool to make. My dad said a lot of people like watching videos on how to do all sorts of things so I will make a video on logos once I get a microphone that I can use  showing my viewers all kinds of things. The beginner tutorial would include what tools to use and what you can do with them. And go through it step by step because when you first see Inkscape its a bit overwhelming but once you learn the tools your on your way to making cool stuff! Here's a link on a page I have about the tools http://howtomakelogos.blogspot.com/p/inkscape-tools.html .

Goblin

I worked some more on my goblin and it is almost finished. I have to work some more on shading and then it will be finished!

To export a bitmap go to file and then look down in till you see export bitmap. When it is as you please export it and then you can upload it to the internet.

4 steps to making an Inkscape

I drew this a while ago but I'm going to use this as example for making an Inkscape of it.

1. Go to Inkscape and have this in your background to copy directly off of because it is easier that way unless you want to challenge yourself.

2. As you notice this picture isn't perfect, the eyes are lopsided and the neck is weirdly skinny. So when you copy your drawing edit it as you go.

3. Once you are finished with the line art give it all the base colors before you do the shading.

4. Select a color slightly darker than the base color and do this multiple times making each layer darker to give it a sort of realism.

The Goblin on the left of this picture is an Inkscape, it is not finished because I haven't had time due to the three hours of home work I have every night, but as you see what I'm trying to say in step 4 is to use different shades of the base color. You could make only one shade and be simplistic if that's the look your going for too.

Decorative Candles

I was looking at a video on how its made decorative candles. I was thinking that I could melt down crayons and practice slicing into it and making cool designs so I will so that sometime. Here's a link to the videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQfeCrU-7LA   It looks like it takes a lot of work because you have to have all the cuts even on the candle and the cool thing is that when you slice into it there is multiple colors becasue the person dipped the candle into a lot of other colors you have to watch the video

Visual Instructions soon to come

I think because a lot of people are more visual I will create a instruction set alongside pictures and that will help my viewers to better understand how to make a graphic using Inkscape so I will do that sometime soon because it is a bit late so I will make some more posts tomorrow.

New Page on Drawings

I made a new page posted at the top with all the rest of my art. Its my art that has been hand drawn because I realized I only had digital art so it would be good to show my first steps in how I started drawing manga. Of course I only have a few of my good ones posted but I drew tons of them, I still do too because it takes a lot to learn how to draw manga there is so much to it. It all started when my dad got a book from the library then constantly I went online and searched how to draw manga and went to the library and got a stack of books and studied them. So usually when you start digital art you have already mastered how to draw what your going to make. So check out the page and comment on it.

My Day

I've been thinking about making a comic book series but I need a bit more work for that, it would be about my life and how I view it like when someone accuses me of stealing their pencil and I wish i could just...

Well moving on I was watching some YouTube videos on Mark Crilley's How To's. And a random video appeared on the suggestions about making swirly soap so I clicked on it and one thing led to another and I was soon learning how to make sugar art. And you seriously have to look up sugar art because it is so beautiful and I would like to make some but my mom says I need a candy thermometer. So that idea was destroyed.

Yesterday at school I read an article on mummy's and how this one tribe (not the Egyptians)  would take apart the dead people take out their organs and put them back together again. Remind of an old folk tale? Anyways while reorganizing my desk I found some old art I did and I'm planning on scanning it into the computer and uploading it to my site.

Inkscape

I use a vector program called Inkscape to make logos, a vector makes it so that an image doesn't get pixelated. I also draw manga with Inkscape. Visit my pages to learn more about Inkscape.

The Process

How did I get to this point in my life? Making Graphics using Inkscape?

I first began to draw at a very young age and my parents were both artists and on my moms side everyone was an artist. So I was very inspired. At the age of 8 or 9 I started to look at tutorials on how to  draw. I learned how to draw dragons, horses, and people perfectly by the age of 11. I dropped everything else and concentrated on manga (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manga). I studied and studied and studied how to draw manga so that when I lay my pencil on paper the end results would be beautiful. My dad had downloaded a free program called Inkscape. At first I wasn't that good at it but as I started to learn the tools It became easier and fun. I also did computer programming using a program called Scratch that also helped to influence me. I also have goals- those are very important to have, I plan to be a game illustrator, and sell many logos.

More Inkscape art

I have another blog that I created for my art so if your looking for more art examples that I have done click on this link

Cheshire Cat Vector Colored

I've been working on my Cheshire Cat it still has a few odds and ends I need to fix up but here it is so far!

About Inkscape

Inkscape is a vector program which means you can zoom in and out of the drawing and it won't get pixelated. It has a lot of tools you can use, shape tools, line tools, a node tool which is used for editing lines there is also the fill tool, eraser tool, and much more, those are just the basics. Inkscape is a learning experience, and it takes a lot to master all the tools and options, to learn everything you need to experiment and search Google, I find that it is easiest to learn when you look it up on YouTube and watch videos.

Experience

I've been working a lot on Inkscape to make a Cheshire Cat for my dad. Its his own style- "Cool Cat" he calls it, and I've been watching YouTube videos on how to use different tools, it's really helpful.

What my Blog is about

This is a blog that tells you how to make logos for all kinds of programs: Inkscape, Gimp, Paint shop pro, you need to use a vector program so you can resize the logo without it getting pixelated. I also make logos that people can buy, I will put up some sample pages for you to look at.
